Captain Fawcett’s Moustache Wax had been recommended to me by many people, so from the beginning my expectations were high. Upon receiving my package, I opened it up to find a well presented jar of wax as well as stickers and a ‘I Heart Moustaches’ badge all in nice cloth bags. We were off to a good start!
Now before I dive into the depths of the review I have to mention the things that make Captain Fawcetts stand out from the rest. The website and packaging are bursting with Captain Fawcetts personality. On the website there is a brief history on the original Captain Peabody Fawcett who went missing in 1905 along with his moustache wax recipe, this same recipe was found and is now being made for the first time in over a century. The original catch phrase ‘The Gentleman’s Stiffener. Keeping a stiff upper lip, regardless…’ is promoted throughout. Along with the fact that his wax is only tested on humans. Good to know! His website is updated regularly with captivating stories about his adventures around the globe, definitely worth checking out!
Now, the product. The wax was easily applied and took very little warming up, making it easy to comb through your ‘stache. Unfortunately I found that it never did dry solid and was slightly greasy, leaving my ‘stache vulnerable to the dreaded midday droop. Now in saying this, readers must know that I style my ‘stache into gravity defying curls that require a strong hold wax. Captain Fawcett’s wax did however look great in the area above the lip, making it look soft and full. Which lead me to believe that it would look great in a Mo’ that didn’t require such a strong hold.
Captain Fawcett’s comes in three pleasant scents, Lavender, Sandlewood and Ylang Ylang. I sampled the Lavender and it was approved by the Girlfriend – the ultimate approval. This neutral wax blends in well with my Ginger Mo’ and I didn’t experience any ‘stache dandruff. A fine display of Moustachery.
